How to use Views

  1. Create a Table
  2. Once you have a Table in your doc, use the / command to add another table. Then choose the name of the first table from the list to create a view of it.
  3. You can also create a view by copying and pasting a table.
  4. At first, you may notice this looks like a copy of the original table. However the magic comes once you start customizing!
  5. Maybe you want to hide a few columns that are not important to you? Or format your View of the task list so it only highlights the highest priority items? As you make these changes to the View, you'll notice that the source Table remains the same, preserving the structure. However, updates to the data (like moving a task from "To-Do" to "Done" will synchronize with the Table and all Views instantaneously!

What's the difference between a Table and a View?

Tables are like an underlying database. Views give you a customized look at your Table data.  But, Tables and Views are interconnected.  

In Coda, you don't have to worry about copying and pasting data from one table to another. That's because anytime you update the data in one, it will stay up to date in the other. This applies to changing values, adding or deleting rows, everything!

How do I filter my View?

Let's imagine you only want to see tasks you're assigned to, or the project manager wants to quickly review the highest priority items. This is where Filters come in - a simple way to slice the data the way you want!

Adding a Filter to your View or Table is just a click away. Hover over the view, click the filter icon, and then choose your parameters. This could be "Status=Done", "Assigned To=Maria AND Status=Not Started," or any other combination of queries.
