Enable two-way sync for Google Calendar

When you add a Google Calendar Events sync table to your doc, you have the option to enable two-way sync. With two-way sync, you can not only sync events from Google Calendar into Coda, but you can also make edits to events directly via your Coda table and have those edits reflected in Google Calendar. This ensures that your data stays in sync and up-to-date between the two tools.

By default, two-way sync is turned off for sync tables. You can turn it on by following the steps listed here.

Example applications

You can do a lot with Google Calendar and Coda - import calendar events (and all their info), create and modify events, track how your time is being spent, and more. In this section, we’ll introduce some common applications for the Google Calendar Pack. But you can also check out the guide here for even more detail.

Create, update, and track events

You can use the Google Calendar Pack to create, update, and track calendar events. Within your Coda doc, draft up the event name, description, date and time, invitees, and more. Then create or update the event with the click of a button. You can also use the Events sync table to track existing events. Check out this template to learn more about this use case and find step-by-step instructions.

Connect your to-do list with calendar events

Create a to-do list in Coda that’s connected to your Google Calendar events. This ensures that your to-dos and your events stay in sync, so you can keep track of all your tasks in one place. You start by creating a table of tasks in Coda, then syncing in the events in your Google Calendar, and finally associating each to-do with an event. You can even use buttons to quickly create new events if one doesn’t exist yet.

For more details on how to set this up, check out this comprehensive walk-through. Or you can find a more simplified template here.

💡 Take things a step further by utilizing Coda AI. Once you’ve connected your to-do list to your events, Coda AI can help summarize your tasks, pull out insights, and make sure nothing is missed. Check out this template to learn more.

Time management

Visualize and track how you’re spending your time. Sync your Google Calendar events into Coda, then assign each event a category. You can then see the time spent per category, giving you a sense of where you might need to spend more or less time. You can even use Coda charts to help visualize this information. Here’s the template to get you started.

Manage meeting notes alongside events

If you do your scheduling in Google Calendar but prefer to take meeting notes in Coda, this use case is for you. By syncing your calendar events into your doc, you can then ensure that your meeting notes are connected to the correct event. Check out this helpful doc for more details and an example setup.

If the email addresses are showing as plain text and not hyperlinked, they will not register as email addresses by the Google Calendar Pack.
