With Coda’s Pack ecosystem, you can create your own Packs, publish them, and even charge for them. In this article, we’ll go over just how to sell your Pack so you can monetize your hard work.
ℹ️ For the purposes of this article, we’ll assume you’ve already made a Pack - but if you haven’t, you can learn more about building your own Pack here!

Get set up to sell
After building a Pack, the first thing you’ll need to do is fill out this form requesting approval to sell a Pack. We typically review requests within a few days, and you'll get notified via email when it's complete. Note that you only need to fill out this form once. After you’ve been approved to sell Packs, you do not need to seek approval for future Packs.
Once you’re approved to sell Packs, the next step is to set up a Stripe account to store payments from purchases of your Pack. This Stripe account will be tied to the workspace and will be used to pay out for all Packs owned by this workspace. You will be able to transfer funds from this Stripe account to another account if desired.
To set up a Stripe account for Pack payouts, follow these steps:
Navigate to your Coda workspace home (coda.io/docs)
In the left-hand panel, select Admin settings, then select your workspace (if applicable)
Note that you will need to be a workspace admin in order to access these settings.
Click into the Workspace Pack subscriptions section
At the top of this section, click Set up payout account
Select your country and click Continue.
From here, you will go through Stripe’s process for creating a payout account. Follow the prompts to finish creating and connecting the Stripe account.
Once the process is complete, you will be returned to Coda, and you should see a connected account listed on the settings page.
Next, let’s talk about what it means for a Pack to be paid!
Set a price for your Pack
The first notable feature of setting a Pack to paid is that you can set a price. Coda lets you decide how much to charge for your work, ranging from $1 to a maximum of $100.
Note that this price will follow Coda’s pricing model: charging on a per Doc Maker, per month basis. Let’s use an example:
You make a Cat Pack. You set the price for the Cat Pack to be $5 per Doc Maker, per month.
Let’s say a workspace with two Doc Makers buys the Cat Pack. That would mean the workspace is charged $10 ($5 * 2 Doc Makers) for the Pack per month.
Coda receives 30% of the revenue from these Pack purchases, so you - the Pack maker - would receive $7 ($10 minus 30%) per month. This rate reflects the technical costs of the system.
Add the price to your listing
To officially set the price for your Pack, follow these steps:
Open your Pack in the Pack Studio
Click into the Listing section
Then click on the Pricing tab
In the Pricing model section, select Paid
Enter the price per doc maker
If desired, toggle off the Allow trialing this Pack setting to disable trialing (more on trialing below)
Click Save to save your selections
You can always change the price of your Pack later, but please note that increases in price (including going from free to paid) have a 30-day grace period for customers who already have the Pack installed. Reductions in price occur right away. This includes switching from paid to free.
Allow trialing
Want to let folks try out your Pack before they buy? Coda enables trials for Packs by default. This means a user can try your Pack for 14 days, free of charge. After those 14 days, the Pack will be disabled unless they decide to purchase. Trials can be disabled via the Allow trialing this Pack setting within the Listing page of the Pack Studio. Note that it may make sense to disable trials for Packs that connect to services that charge on a per-use basis.
List your Pack in the Gallery
After configuring the pricing details for your Pack, you’ll want to actually let the world start using it! If you’ve already published your Pack, then you’re all set. Otherwise, follow the steps below:
Within the Pack Studio, click Share in the upper right corner of your screen
Click on the Publish tab
Optionally, click on the See full listing button to see a preview of your Pack’s listing
When ready, click the Publish button to list your Pack
Your Pack should now be available in the Gallery! Thank you for taking the time to make and share your Pack with other Coda makers.
ℹ️ Note that you may be blocked from publishing if you have not filled out the listing page for the Pack. We will flag if this is the case and provide a link for you to do so. If you run into any other issues with publishing, or just want to learn more, check out this article.
