Learn how to install and use the "Coda for Miro" app to integrate with Miro

Install Coda for Miro

To get started, you'll need to install the Coda for Miro app.

  1. Go to the Miro Marketplace and search for “Coda for Miro”.

  2. Select the app and click Connect.

  3. Select the team of your choice from the dropdown menu and click Add.

Authorize Coda for Miro

Once you've installed the Coda for Miro app, you'll next need to authorize the connection between your Miro and Coda accounts. Here's how:

  1. Open your Miro board.

  2. On the toolbar, click More apps, then select or search for Coda for Miro.

  3. Allow permissions for the Coda for Miro app by clicking Allow.

  4. Click Get Started.

  5. Click the Generate a new Coda API token link to go directly to your Coda account and create a new API token.

  6. Then, paste the Coda API token into the field and click Connect.

Export sticky notes & cards to Coda

ℹ️ Miro app cards and Miro cards are two distince Miro elements. The Coda and Miro integration supports the exporting of cards (not app cards). For more information, refer to the following links:

You can use the Coda for Miro app to export sticky notes or cards from Miro to Coda. When doing so, there are two options to choose from:

Export to new table

  1. Click on the Export sticky notes/cards to Coda table tile.

  2. Then, select Export to new table.

  3. Choose either the Sticky notes or the Cards tile and then choose one of the following radio buttons:

    1. From your selection: Choose your selection of sticky notes/cards from the Miro board.

    2. Select all the sticky notes/cards: Select all the sticky notes/cards in your Miro board. The app Coda for Miro Document toolboxscans the Miro board and selects all of the sticky notes/cards automatically.

  4. Next, choose the method you want to export the sticky notes/cards to:

    1. Select page method: Choose the documentation name and the page name, then click Export.

    2. Page link method: Copy the page link (Coda URL) and insert it into the field, then click Export.

Export to existing table

  1. Click on the Export sticky notes/cards to Coda table tile.

  2. Then, select Export to existing table.

  3. Choose either the Sticky notes or the Cards tile and then choose one of the following radio buttons: a. From your selection: Choose your selection of sticky notes/cards from the Miro board. b. Select all the sticky notes/cards: Select all the sticky notes/cards in your Miro board. The app scans the Miro board and selects all of the sticky notes/cards automatically.

  4. Next, choose the method you want to export the sticky notes/cards to:

    1. Select table method: Choose the documentation name and the table name, then click Continue.

    2. Table link method: Copy the table link (Coda table URL) and insert it into the field, then click Continue.

  5. Optionally, you can tick the Auto-import Coda table as app cards checkbox. This will add the sticky notes/cards to the table and create app cards for the updated table in Miro.

  6. In the Column mapping page, link the elements of the sticky notes/cards to the relevant table column.

    1. 📣 Ensure there are enough table columns to map with the app card/sticky notes. Any elements without corresponding table columns will be ignored.

  7. Click Export once the column mapping is complete.

Import Coda rows as app cards

You can also use the Coda for Miro app to import rows from a Coda table into Miro as app cards. To do so, just follow these steps in Miro:

  1. Click on the Import Coda rows as App cards tile.

  2. Choose the method you want to import the app cards:

    1. Select table method: Choose the documentation name and the table name, then click Import.

    2. Table link method: Copy the table link (Coda table URL) and insert it into the field, then click Import.

ℹ️ You can only import 100 rows from the Coda table at a time.

Interact with Coda app cards

Once you've imported Coda rows as app cards, you can interact with them by following these steps:

  1. Hover on the app card and click on the Expand button.

  2. Click Edit and change the Coda app card information.

  3. Then, click Update to confirm the changes. The changes will be automatically synced to the Coda table.

  4. Additionally, you can manually click Sync to trigger the synchronization.

ℹ️ A background synchronization of all app cards will occur every 5 minutes.

Manage the integration

Should you need to manage the Coda for Miro integration, you can do so via the following steps within Miro:

  1. Click on the Settings button (gear icon)

  2. You can toggle the Allow access toggle off if you want to deactivate the app to restrict usage without Coda for Miro Document toolboxdeleting your Coda API key.

  3. To update the Coda API key, click on the field to enter your new Coda API key value and click Save. 4. Click Delete API Key to delete the Coda API entirely.

📣 Before deleting the Coda API key, ensure you back it up and store it securely. Once you click Delete API Key, the API key will be erased and cannot be restored.
