Coda comes with a default set of icons, which can be used in doc titles, page titles, buttons, reactions, and more. But custom icons allow you to add even more personality to your doc - whether you want to get more professional or more whimsical.
Custom icons are available on all paid plans. All members of a workspace can use the icons that have been added to their workspace, in addition to Coda’s default set of icons. Custom icons can be uploaded only by the Doc Makers in a workspace.
Within this article, you’ll find...
Add custom icons
Doc makers can add custom icons to their workspace from any icon picker in a doc, or from the Icons section of your workspace.
In a doc:
At the top of the page list, click on the icon next to your doc title to open the icon menu.
Click Custom
Click Upload and select a file. Square images under 5MB with transparent backgrounds work best. Images can be in PNG, JPEG, or GIF format.
Give your icon a memorable name. You’ll use this name to search for your icon in the future.
Click Confirm
Everyone in the workspace can now use this icon to customize doc titles, page titles, callouts, and reactions.
From your workspace page:
Navigate to your workspace home (coda.io/docs)
Hover over your workspace name in the left panel, and select the three-dot menu that appears
Select Icons from the list
Click the +New Icon
Follow the prompts to select and upload a file from your device. Square images under 5MB with transparent backgrounds work best. Images can be in PNG, JPEG, or GIF format.
Once you’ve uploaded the image, hit Save.
Now workspace members can start using those custom icons throughout docs.
Remove custom icons
Makers can delete custom icons from the workspace library via the Icons section of their workspace.
Navigate to your workspace home (coda.io/docs)
Hover over your workspace name in the left panel, and select the three-dot menu that appears
Select Icons from the list
Find the icon you’d like to delete by searching or browsing
Click the trash can icon to remove the icon from the workspace library. This will ensure no one can use this icon any longer within the workspace, but will not impact any docs or folders currently using the icon.
