What’s in this article
Coda is better when shared, and if you're helping spread the word, we want to thank you! Enter the Coda affiliate program. The bottom line? When a new user signs up using your link, we'll give both you and the person you refer $10 to use toward your Coda accounts. If they upgrade their workspace to a paid plan, we’ll give you 20% of their first-year revenue in cash. Let's take a closer look.
You can earn cash or credit when a new Coda user signs up through your affiliate link. First, we’ll go through how to sign up for the affiliate program. If you’ve already signed up and have your link, skip ahead to Ways to earn. If you have a link from our previous referral program, it is still valid, but you will only be able to earn Coda credit, not cash. For more information, see our Affiliate program FAQs.
How to sign up
Other than earning cold hard cash, the best part about the Coda affiliate program is how easy it is to sign up, manage your link, and track your earnings. Coda uses a platform called PartnerStack to manage our affiliate program. As a first step, you will be asked to create an account through PartnerStack.
To get started, visit coda.io/invite and click Get Started. You will be redirected to PartnerStack’s site to create your profile. You will be able to sign up with your Google account or with your email address. Next, you’ll be prompted to submit your company’s name or simply use your name instead.
Once you complete your profile, please read and accept the Coda terms or service by checking the box and clicking Confirm. This popup will appear at the top of your PartnerStack dashboard.
To find your affiliate link, under Your programs find and click Coda. You will be directed to the Coda program. Under the heading Link, you will find the custom affiliate link that you can share to start earning cash and credit through Coda. Click the button reading Copy to get started, or share directly via Twitter, LinkedIn, or email through the icons to the right.
Whenever someone clicks on your link, they will be directed to Coda’s homepage.
Once you start sharing your link, you’ll be able to view your stats through your main dashboard, including top-line metrics for each program, total rewards, and link activity.
Ways to earn
Earn through published docs
With the Coda affiliate program, you can earn credit and cash by promoting your own published docs. You earn credit when someone signs up to Coda through your doc and cash when they upgrade to a paid plan.
If you are not an affiliate:
If you have not signed up for the Affiliate Program, you will only earn only credit (not cash). To increase the chances of someone signing up from your doc, go to the Publish tab under the share dialog, and make sure the sign-up modal option is enabled. Then, as users browse your doc, Coda will show them a prompt to sign up. This simply increases the chances of a new user signing up for a Coda account from your doc.
If you are an affiliate:
If you are an affiliate, you will automatically earn both credit and cash when users sign up from your doc or through your affiliate link.

Earn through affiliate links

Once you have your affiliate link, you can begin sharing it with friends, family, followers, and more to start earning through Coda. Within PartnerStack, you can also generate unique links for specific Coda pages, like a new blog post, published doc, or Pack listing page, for example.
Affiliate Program FAQs
Is my old referral link still valid or do I need to sign up for a new one?
Coda has recently made improvements to the affiliate program. Previously, makers were able to earn $10 in Coda credit for each new user they referred through their published docs. Now makers can continue earning $10 in Coda credit for each new user referred through their published docs in addition to earning 20% of their referrals’ first-year revenue when the referral upgrades to a paid Coda plan.
For makers who had a link from the previous referral program, this link is still valid for earning Coda credit. However, in order to earn cash and Coda credit, we ask that you sign up for the updated affiliate program through PartnerStack.
I still have Coda credit from the old referral program. Can I still use it?
You sure can! Coda credit from our previous referral program is still valid and will be automatically applied to your workspace.
What if you already have a PartnerStack account?
If you already have a PartnerStack account and it uses a different email than your Coda account, you will need to manually link the two accounts. To do this, go to your account settings, and under publishing, find the “PartnerStack Partner Key” tab and enter your PartnerStack key.
How much can I earn?
Cash: There is no limit on how much cash you can earn through PartnerStack. Use the calculator above to get a sense of the kind of revenue you can make based on different levels of traffic and how well your docs and links convert.
Credit: Our hope with this program is that our top advocates can use Coda without having to worry about the cost. We have a $500 credit limit.
How do I find and use my credit?
You worked hard enough to earn your credits so no need to worry about coupon codes, golden tickets, or excessive button clicks. Credits automatically apply to your workspace when you pay, or the next time a bill rolls around. If you are in more than one workspace you can select which workspace credit you earn should apply to in account settings.
You can find your credit balance under workspace settings → billing.
You can also track your Coda credit and cash earned directly in PartnerStack. Coda credit will automatically be applied to your next bill. The recipient will automatically have it applied when they sign up for a paid plan as well.
For more information or questions about PartnerStack, please refer to their Help Center homepage and click Partnering with programs to troubleshoot.
How will people sign up from my doc?

What counts toward referrals and upgrades?
When someone signs up to Coda through your affiliate link or published doc, that counts as a referral. Referrals will net you a $10 credit.
If any workspace that was created by a referred user upgrades to a paid plan, you will get 20% of the first-year revenue from that workspace (even if the referred user didn’t pay for it themselves).
You will be paid based on the transactions in the workspace. So if the workspace pays for a yearly plan, you will get 20% of that yearly plan upgrade transaction. If new makers join the workspace during the year, you will get 20% of those transactions as well. Similarly, if the workspace is on a monthly plan, you will get 20% of every transaction for their plan, which could increase or decrease over the course of the year depending on how many Makers the workspace is paying for.
Note: Coda reserves the right to review and adjust any transaction before making payouts.
Can I sign up for fake accounts?
C’mon. You know we have this FAQ here so we can say ‘don’t signup fake accounts.’ If you try, we will find you, we will catch you, and we won’t allow you to use any of our cool programs again.
Does this program work outside the United States?
Yes! Credits can be applied to any workspace, no matter where you live. And payouts can be made to people in any country that supports either Stripe or Paypal, which covers the majority of the world. Please reach out if you are in a country where neither Stripe nor Paypal works.
Can I see stats on my referrals, upgrades, and payouts?
Yes! You can see statistics in your PartnerStack dashboard. Note this will not include the total amount of credit you have accrued since that is tracked on our system. You can find your credit balance under workspace settings → billing.
